Southern Park

             

South Stream Park lies in the south of Guilin by western bank of Li River, near the Li River city tour dock. A twin peak springs from the ground, when it is sunny, the cliff looks like white jade. A stream gushes out from under, winds around the peaks makes it charming and beautiful and finally flows into Li River. The rosy clouds and purple mists that float above the valley after a morning rain are an amazing sight.

The park was first founded and developed by Li Bo, a reputed poet in the Tang Dynasty. Preserved today are over 200 carved calligraphic works and poem inscriptions composed by celebrities in Tang and Song Dynasties. It is opened to public in 1974.

Dragon Spine Pavilion between the two peaks is the best place to view the City of Guilin. It features rocks of fantastic colors and caves filled with stalactites. There are many peculiar caves including White Dragon Cave and Liu Xian Cave. "Dragon Spring" is found in the park, its fine spring-water was sent as a tribute to the Imperial Court In ancient times.

The nice park is with groves of bamboo, pines and cypresses, you can walk along the stream and Li River feast your eyes with natural landscape, Li River view and surrounding atmosphere.
